Three creatures are moving in. Moff needs shade and quiet, Tavi needs open space, Ripple needs the pond. Your child has a grid, a budget and a set of rules — and every decision is theirs.

Then a moonseed takes out part of the sanctuary and they rebuild it a different way.

The six missions

  • Meet your new neighbours — three creatures, three needs, one welcome each.
  • Draw the first plan — place each habitat on the grid; every home needs a path touching it.
  • Spend the supplies — floors, roofs, a step, maybe a cushion, against a fixed budget.
  • Build or draw the shelter — fold a real paper tunnel and test it, or draw it. Both count as finished.
  • After the moonseed — one cell is lost for good. Rebuild with the same budget.
  • Open the sanctuary — walk the checks together, then say what changed and why.

Many designs work. Artistic precision, beauty and originality are explicitly not judged — the only check is whether the design meets the needs printed on the page.

Three routes, one story

Every adventure ships with three routes — ages 6–8, 9–10 and 11–12 — that share the same characters and the same ending. You print one route, not all three. Choose by reading confidence, not birthday.

Pointing counts. Saying it out loud counts. Drawing it counts. A grown-up can read the page aloud or write the answer down, and the adventure carries on exactly the same. There is no score, no timer and no ranking.

What is in your download

  • The adventure — four files: A4 and US Letter, each in Colour and Low Ink. All three routes are inside every file.
  • Start Here guide — A4 and US Letter, with the print list for each route and every answer.
  • Designer Certificate — A4 and US Letter, in Colour and Low Ink.

Low Ink uses outline artwork. No puzzle anywhere depends on colour.

Before you buy

  • Ages — 6–8, 9–10 and 11–12 — three routes, same creatures, same opening day
  • Complexity — Moderate. No single right answer — the check is whether the design meets the needs on the page.
  • Sheets to print — 8 per route (+1 optional cover)
  • Time — Not measured yet. We would rather leave this blank than print a number we have not tested.
  • You need — A printer and a pencil; an eraser helps. One spare sheet for the optional paper model.
  • Your part — Point to a rule or draw alongside. Never judge how it looks — only whether it works.
  • Language — English
  • Bonus included — Dragon Sanctuary Designer Certificate
